THE walkway leading from Main Street in Marburg and across the Black Snake Creek has undergone temporary repairs.
The walkway is a popular access point from the Marburg showgrounds through to homes on the western side of Black Snake Creek and was damaged during the floods this year.
“All year round this area provides a pleasant walk for families, though when it rains the water rises, inundating the paths so that the walkway is not accessible,” said Division 4 Councillor Kate Kunzelmann.
“Council is aware of the problems that exist on this walkway.”
Cr Kunzelmann added that she was “dedicated to finding a solution”.
“There is definitely a problem in this area, and I absolutely agree that the area is prone to flooding when a decent amount of rain falls in Marburg.
“After listening to the community, I understand their concerns, so as an interim fix council has worked to clear away the debris that inundated the walkway.
“This is only a temporary fix, that has cleared the way and eased congestion so that families can access the area safely.
“Council is currently looking into future works to address and resolve this problem.”
