IT was an exciting day at Marburg Racetrack on Sunday with punters cheering on their favourites in the Father’s Day program.
As racegoers went through the gates they were gifted with a five dollar betting voucher as well as five hundred dollars of funny money.
The atmosphere was all the Marburg Pacing Association had hoped for with a quality harness racing program, mini trotters, an on course TAB, cold drinks, good food and an obstacle course for the children.
And for those who weren’t quite sure what to bet on, Denis Smith, Ben Crosby and Anthony Collins shared their tips.
Jim James who is a regular at Marburg said he attended the event with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and his grandchildren.
“Marburg always puts on a good show and I was really happy to be able to share the day with my family for Father’s Day,” he said.
“Watching the races from the sideline was really exciting, while my grandchildren had fun on the obstacle course.
“It’s a perfect and safe day out for the whole family.
“The food also I must say is fantastic, especially the burgers and the cheesecake, they are homemade and are very tasty, definitely worth the drive to try them.”
Pacing Association Secretary, Denis Smith said that the day went very well.
“Special races were held on the day including races named after our own Triad Albion Park Group 1 Winners Ben Crosby and Trent and Crystal Dawson,” he said.
“Despite the windy conditions we still attracted a great crowd, taking a Tote Hold of over $20,000.
“Of course, also it was a great day to be able to celebrate the fathers and special people in our lives, success all round, with many thanks from the Association.”
