THE Rosewood Tai Chi group recently celebrated more than 20 years of service to the community.
The group, which is part of the Rosewood Community Centre, have members who travel from the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the surrounding areas to join them.
Centre General Manager Donna Hanlon said the Tai Chi program has provided weekly sessions for locals from beginners to advance levels.
“Outside of classes, the group has also influenced other small towns to commence Tai Chi classes in their own areas such as in Marburg, Lowood and Laidley,” she said.
“Volunteer instructors Jean Gosling, Irene Strong and Maureen McGuire are the reason why we have had built such a strong group over the years.”
The celebration took the form of a luncheon.
Current instructor Irene Strong acknowledged the great job the volunteer instructors have done and Donna spoke on “how wonderful it was to hear of all the benefits individuals have experienced through their participation in weekly sessions”.
“Tai Chi not only provides an opportunity to connect with others in the community but also has wonderful health benefits like improving balance, flexibility, posture, strength, mood and for some it helps with pain management.” she said.
“Congratulations to all involved and for those who made the effort to join in the celebrations.”
