Gambling grant ‘super wins’ make a difference to local groups

TWO local groups have won grants in the ‘Super Round’ of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

The Rosewood Hack and Pony Club will use its grant of more than $59,000 to build a new shed, while the Marburg Show Society plans to use its grant of $33,432 to purchase a new mower, dishwasher and to carry out maintenance work on the main hall.

Show Society Secretary and Treasurer Sue Kunde said the committee was “very excited” about the win.

“This money will make such a difference to our Society and we are so grateful to have been successful,” she said.

“The money will be used for plumbing maintenance under the main hall which is used for many functions and events throughout the year.

“A new dishwasher will be purchased for our main kitchen area, and this will be so handy for people who hire out the hall and for our committee, because lately we have been using disposable cups, plates, dishes and cutlery to ensure appropriate cleaning methods meet the Covid guidelines.

“Having a dishwasher will ensure a deep clean and it will make things a lot easier and efficient.

“Paving will also take place outside of the hall area, which has been on the list of things to do for some time to improve the appearance. It will also provide a nice outdoor space.

“And finally, we will be purchasing a large ‘zero turn’ mower that will be capable of slashing large areas and keeping the grounds neat and tidy.

“Our committee really is just so happy with this outcome and we look forward to getting things done around the grounds and also inside the main hall to better improve the vicinity for all who visit and hire out the space.”
