Council has designs on Grandchester Mt Mort Road

THIS financial year, the Ipswich City Council will review the design options for the widening of a 2.5km section of the Grandchester Mt Mort Road.

A total of $150,000 has been allocated in the Budget to fund the necessary design and survey work to investigate the widening of the road from Eagles Piano Bridge to Spicers Hidden Vale Resort.

Deputy Mayor and Cr Jacob Madsen said design works would not have an impact on residents.

Cr Sheila Ireland added that the design will investigate options to provide pavement widening to this section of the existing rural road to a sealed two-lane rural road standard.

“The design will review the current tight bends and curves and the limited sight distance for on-coming vehicles at the road crest,” she said.

“Council will consult with the local community to obtain feedback about the preliminary design options.”
