ST BRIGID’S Catholic School Leaders held their school flag with pride as they entered St Mary’s Church in Ipswich to take part in the Ipswich Catholic Community Multicultural Mass on Pentecost Sunday.
The Leaders, school captains Dusty-Rose Wilson and Tahnee Sparke, and sports captains Harper Luke and Xanthe McKay, were joined by their families, school Principal Duane Wann, school staff and fellow students.
Many countries of origin were celebrated through prayer, song and dance as the meaning of Pentecost Sunday and diversity was shared.
Father Stephen Bliss said that God’s presence was shared strongly on the day and he expressed his gratitude in being able to minister in such a strong place of faith on such a special day.
“What a joy it is to have so many families from countries all over the world come together in one place to share the word of the Lord,” he said.
“This day helps to shape all of us, the young and the old, male and female, people from all different cultures and countries, we are as one.”
As a conclusion to the Mass, guest speakers from different countries were invited to the stage to share readings in their language.
A morning tea was then served and featured special recipes from different cultures.
