Families flock to voting stations

DESPITE the wet weather, the Rosewood polling booth was kept busy with families approaching stalls before voting for their preferred candidate in the 2022 Federal Election on Saturday.

Long standing Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann, retained his seat for a sixth term.

He said he went into Election Day “quietly confident”, as he had been campaigning strongly since the last election.

“Labor is fully focused to make a change in the area, and we are devoted to supporting all families into the future,” he said.

“Defence Force Personal, Veterans, Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Ex Servicemen and Women and Pensioners are among many people who will be supported and we are 100 percent committed to delivering assistance in housing.

“Local schools are set to receive more support and funding, Cabanda Care in Rosewood will be supported and many organisations, sporting and community groups will benefit from the massive increase in funding that Labor will deliver.”

Thousands of residents travel to and from school and work each day on the Ipswich Motorway and Mr Neumann said that the final upgrade on this highway will take place to support these families.

“It is important to deliver a safe and efficient motorway, and this upgrade will provide this” he said.

“The Rosewood Roosters Football Club will benefit enormously, by receiving an adequate football stadium at the Ipswich Reserve, an exciting move forward for their club.”

Following tradition, the end of the Election campaign and its success, was celebrated at the Ipswich Trades Hall in Bell Street.

“I feel honoured and privileged to be able to continue my service to community through being elected as a Federal Member of Parliament for Blair for my sixth term by the people,” he said.

“I have spent my whole life participating in community activities, from preaching at the Rosewood Baptist Church to being involved in aged care, hospitals and sporting organisations.

“Democracy is a wonderful thing and we celebrate Election Day as a process that has been enjoyed for over one hundred years.”
