COMMUNITY groups have been recognised on a new community sign located at the Johnston Park in Rosewood.
It was officially unveiled last Tuesday by Crs Kate Kunzelmann and Russell Milligan and David Pahlke on April 5.
David Pahlke instigated the replacement of the sign due to its weathered condition and to update the community groups details.
He said he was thankful to the Ipswich City Council for fulfilling his request.
“I was pleased to unveil the new and improved community sign to assist the residents of Rosewood with contacts for the local community groups,” Cr Milligan said.
“Through engagement with local community groups, we identified that the current placement of the sign did not serve the community well, as it was quite a distance from the local park.
“Through the support of community groups this new location was identified as best here in the park in an area where community can sit and enjoy the park and the sign.
“It also removed issues of having to mow around the sign as it is in a garden bed and this location affords good visibility and is offset enough from the paths.”
