EYE catching handmade creations made out of recycled materials are making a bold statement in the Marburg Historical Park grounds.
Members of the Marburg Art Group and the Marburg and District Residents Association have been busy collecting recycled timbers, metals, old tyres and paints to create life sized sculptures as part of a fundraiser for toilet amenities in the Marburg Green Shed.
Michelle Howarth said the sculptures have taken many weeks to put together.
“The flower was the first sculpture that was made by local lady Valerie who gathered an old hub cap from a car and metal pieces to create the large flower petal display.
“The art group were all involved in painting individual pieces of metal parts out of old clothes driers before mounting them into the snake sculpture.
“It is a really creative piece that was lots of fun to put together.”
She described the whole project as a complete joy.
“It has really brought people together with fun and excitement as the creations have come to life,” she said.
“So many families have stopped their cars to get out and have a closer look at the sculptures.”
The sculptures will be sold at the Black Snake Creek Festival.
