A VOTE of thanks and a morning tea was delivered to the Rosewood kindy families and local community group sponsors who worked to raise money to install an automated external defibrillator at the Rosewood and District Community Kindergarten.
Fundraising Committee President Skye Petty said that during a recent first aid course educators were made aware of the incredible difference an automated external defibrillator (AED) could make during incidents of sudden cardiac arrest.
“Holding to strong values and ties to our community, our kindy is situated in the heart of Rosewood and an AED at our location is an asset to not only us, but our community,” she said.
“With that idea in mind, the Co-Director of our Kindergarten, Debbie Brown, applied for a grant from Rosewood Community Bendigo Bank, who worked with us to donate half of the cost for an AED.
“With half of the cost covered, generosity from our community and our kindy families saw our initial goal exceeded, and an amount of $1,345 was raised.
“We were overwhelmed by one of our members, Krystal Johnson, who raised over $600 on her own.”
The AED machine was installed next to the main kindy entrance.
“We plan to use the excess funds raised to help some of our kindy families experiencing unforeseen circumstances and on upgrades to some of the play items in our kindy,” Debbie said.
