A MAN has been charged in relation to the arson attack on Marburg Post Office.
On March 17, police were called after reports of break and enters to two antique shops on Edmond Street in Marburg.
It’s alleged the same person forced his way into the Marburg Post Office and set it alight.
Amanda Petersen, who owns the Marburg Post Office, said thousands of dollars in retail stock was damaged or destroyed in the fire.
“Everything that was in the shop was either fire damaged or smoke damaged or damaged from the fire extinguishers,” she said.
“I lost all my retail stock and am slowly putting out what I had in storage.
“We are working through our suppliers to get everything back as soon as possible.”
The post office was closed for several days after the arson attack.
Parcel collection was made available through the Green Shed at the Marburg Community Centre, but everything is now back to normal.
“It’s important to me as a business owner to support other business owners,” she said.
“It’s just a matter of working through things and getting restocked.
“Of course, when you are waiting for insurance to come through, things can take a bit longer.
“I don’t have the funds to just restock the entire store all at once.”
A police spokesman said a 45-year-old Inala man had been charged with one count of arson and one count of entering premises with intent.
He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court again on Wednesday, April 9.
