MORE than five tonnes of prawns are expected to be sold during the Christmas period at Drakes Rosewood, and in anticipation, Drakes hosted a free tasting event for the community, last week.
Fresh oysters were chucked and prawns were peeled while hats, drink coasters and cooler bags were given out to the customers by representatives from Tassal Seafood. Sharing his knowledge of the seafood selections on the day was Tassal Seafood State Manager Shaun Mc Ervale who said it was great to be able to share the fresh produce with residents.
“Christmas time is no doubt one of the busiest times of the year, in regard to supplying and selling seafood,” he said.
“Our Tiger Prawns are sourced from Far North Queensland and they are extremely popular because of their sweet flavour and their distinct stripes. Our oysters are sourced from Tasmania and are a real treat because of their distinct flavour.”
Among the giveaways and tastings the Tassal team shared recipes using salmon and other produce from the seafood range that will be available from Drakes in Rosewood.
